Riding a bicycle is a great way to exercise and transport yourself (and sometimes one other person) to wherever you need to go. One disadvantage (or advantage, depending on how you see it), though is that you can only carry so much on your person and bike at a time. However, there are numerous accessories out there that you can add to your bike to be safer and to make a better statement about who you are.

Bring Your Own Beverage

For example, the cupholder that you can attach to your bike is probably one of the handiest and safest cycle accessories invented so far. If you’re like many cyclists and ride mostly during the warmer times of the year, you don’t have to worry about stopping to drink water from the fountains and if you’re a regular coffee drinker, you don’t have to worry about leaving your home extra early on the way to work just to be able to stop at your local coffee shop for an hour or two before you’re due at work.

Personalized Gear

Many have complained over the years that wearing a helmet gives off a “dorky” appearance. However, wearing a helmet is very highly recommended as they help prevent head concussions in case of a fall or an accident. The good news is that these days, there are various styles of helmets available, including the Yakkay helmet, which comes with many covers with a Paris or Tokyo appearance.

LED Lights

Especially if you often ride after dark, there are now miniature LED lights that can be attached to your bike. This helps other people, especially drivers of vehicles to be able to see you better and hence, prevent accidents.

Leather Carrier Bags

If you are a regular beer or wine drinker, there are specialized leather carrier bags for the bottles that you can strap on to your bike.

If you’re the environmental type, there are tiny planters that you can attach to your bike.

Shopper Bags

If you take your bike everywhere, including the grocery store, there are now twin and pocket panniers as well as small round barrel bags that you can also keep attached onto your bike.

Pet Carriers for Bicycles

If you’re the type who likes taking your pet everywhere with you or your bike is your only means of transportation and you take them to the local veterinarian that way, there are plenty of pet baskets and trailers available for that as well.
